PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - If you have purchased gas in Parkersburg recently, you might want to check your bank account for suspicious activity.

The Parkersburg Police Department announced Monday afternoon, they are actively investigating a series of skimming devices being used at gas stations around town.

Skimming devices are designed to look like a credit card device, but takes your banking card's information once you insert the card.

The police department's Facebook post says they have removed all devices that were discovered, and say all gas stations are taking extra precautions to prevent future skimming devices being placed on pumps.

The Parkersburg Police Department would also like to encourage individuals to be vigilant in checking their credit and debit accounts that have been used in the past few weeks.
