PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) Updated: 8/10/2017
The Dils Center Building is now in the hands of a Parkersburg attorney.
According to the Wood County Clerk's office, Charles Stalnaker purchased the building from Texas-based SFG Partners in December, 2016 for $50,000.
A lot of homes these days are sold for that much-and even more.
But that would get someone a building that's virtually iconic in downtown Parkersburg.
It's the Dils building-to where, for decades, shoppers flocked for the latest clothes and other merchandise.
More recently, it housed a number of professional offices and a conference center.
The price was posted only recently, nearly 20 months after it was sold to a Texas-based investment company for half a million dollars.
That company, SFG Partners, declined to comment Monday on the building's sale status.
Meanwhile, placed up for sale-again-in just the past few days: St. Joseph's Landing, the former St. Joseph's Hospital, which has attracted a number of office tenants in just the past year.
Duke Jordan, Realtor for Berkshire-Hathaway, on whose website the building is listed, says the current owners are looking to sell it after buying it as an "investment property".
Multiple sources have told us in recent days, it is under consideration for a long-term drug treatment center, and, just last week, the Parkersburg YMCA announced it was shifting some of its operations there.
Finally, there's still the U.S. Courthouse, also known as the Parkersburg Federal Building, on public auction since April.
Nearly $1.5 million has been bid on that structure, with an ever-changing bid deadline.
