Teachers in the Marietta City School District tentatively have a new contract, after working without one since the start of school in August.
Marietta Education Association President J.D. Benson tells us negotiators for the teachers and the board of education reached the tentative agreement Monday.
The teachers ratified the agreement Tuesday. The board of education has yet to do so.
The previous agreement expired July 30.
Belpre's school teachers and the board of education are expected to vote this month on ratifying a new contract, after a tentative agreement was reached this week.
Superintendent Tony Dunn says the agreement was reached Monday. Teachers had been working under the old contract, which expired June 30.
Several negotiating sessions had been held since then.
There's no word on when ratification votes will take place. The Belpre Education Association's members and the board of education separately must meet to approve the new contract.
The board's next scheduled regular meeting is December 19.
