There was a sight to see Tuesday for residents in the Mid-Ohio Valley of all ages!
Dozens gathered in Marietta Tuesday morning to see the Queen of the Mississippi. The sternwheeler arrived Monday night in Marietta, after several schedule changes.
Spectators young and old came out to enjoy the view of the summertime tradition. They took pictures, posed for photos and made memories.
It was busy down by the levee as new passengers arrived to go aboard just before noon. They were all ready for their ten night cruise to Saint Louis, Missouri.
“We’ll make various stops, Maysville, Cincinnati, Louisville, Henderson, Paducah, Cape Girardeau, says Bob Peterson, from Kennedy, New York. “I may have forgotten something, but it will be fun."
"My wife doesn't want to be out of the sight of land, so one of those great big cruises that goes down the Caribbean and the like won't do for u, says Tom Welsh, from Salisbury, Maryland. “Here is an all American crew, all American kids; it's just really a marvelous experience. This is our eighth time aboard."
The queen of the Mississippi is now headed down the Ohio River.
If you missed this sternwheeler, don't worry, the American Queen is expected to be in town Wednesday. It is scheduled to depart at 5 p.m..

Two popular sternwheelers are scheduled to make stops in Marietta in July.
The American Queen is scheduled to dock in Marietta at 8 a.m. on July 14 and July 18. It's scheduled to depart both days at 5 p.m.
The Queen of the Mississippi is scheduled to arrive at 10:30 p.m. on July 15 and depart the following day, July 16, at 1:30 p.m.
The city announced the schedule on its Facebook page.
The dates and times are subject to change.
The Queen of the Mississippi will not be making a visit to Marietta Saturday, July 14, 2018. Visit Marietta Ohio made the announcement on its Facebook page.
However, the American Queen is still expected to make a visit on that day. Also, at this present time, both boats are still expected to visit Marietta Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
Its Facebook page says to remember dates and times are subject to change without notice and to watch page for the most up to date information.

Unfortunately, the Queen of the Mississippi will not be stopping in Marietta this Thursday, June 28, 2018.
The next scheduled visits will be Saturday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
Visit Marietta Ohio’s Facebook page posted around noon that The Queen of the Mississippi sternwheeler would not be making its scheduled stop in Marietta on Sunday afternoon.
The post notes that the boat was unable to make the trip due to technical difficulties, but alludes to a stop in the Mid-Ohio Valley on Thursday with additional details to follow.
The Queen of the Mississippi is one of the largest sternwheeler boats on the Ohio River System and on Sunday it made a stop in Marietta. The boat holds 150 passengers and cruises the Ohio, Mississippi, and Cumberland River systems.
The sternwheeler is scheduled to visit again later in the summer along with The American Queen sternwheeler, hailed as the largest steamboat ever built.
You can see both boats together in Marietta on July 14th and 18th.
