WV Children's Health Insurance Program gets funding for next 6 years

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WTAP) - The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) says the West Virginia Children’s Health Insurance Program (WV CHIP) has received funding for the next 6 years.

The WV DHHR Board made the announcement Friday after it voted to rescind its previous action on November 8, 2017, to close the WV CHIP program due to federal funding cuts.

WV DHHR says no interruption of health care services to West Virginia children occurred while the federal funding issues were unresolved.

Currently, more than 21,000 children in low-income families are provided health insurance by WV CHIP.
