West Virginians have nearly $8 million in unclaimed assets held by state treasury

CHARLESTON, W.VA. (WTAP) - The West Virginia State Treasurer's Office says West Virginians have a combined $7,888,927.96 in unclaimed money, property and other assets currently being held by the state.

The West Virginia county with the highest amount of unclaimed assets is Kanawha County, with $2,343,051.86 in unclaimed money and property.

Here are the total dollar amounts of unclaimed money, property and other assets for each West Virginia county in the Mid-Ohio Valley:

Calhoun - $18,400.86
Doddridge - $4,160.46
Jackson - $66,718.57
Mason - $19,369.57
Pleasants - $10,246.93
Ritchie - $28,937.68
Roane - $20,034.04
Tyler - $48,633.77
Wirt - $7,748.36
Wood - $362,527.86
