Woman killed, man hurt in crash on Ohio Route 7 in Meigs County

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - A North Carolina woman was killed and a man was seriously injured Friday in Meigs County after their car crossed the center line on Ohio Route 7 and crashed into an 18-wheeler.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 4:34 AM on Friday, near mile post 21 on Ohio Route 7 in Meigs County.

Troopers say a 2018 Nissan Sentra crossed the center line and crashed into the rear trailer axles and wheels of a 2001 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by Marion L. Lovejoy, 64, of Hurricane, WV.

A passenger in the Sentra, Elizabeth Hursey, 18, of Elon, N.C., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Sentra, Dylan L. Wilkens, 25, of Elon, N.C., was flown by air-ambulance to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of injuries.

Lovejoy was not hurt in the crash.
