Wood Co. Circuit Clerk asks commissioners for more money to run her office

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Wood County Circuit Clerk Carole Jones previously threatened to resign over what she says is an inadequate budget for her office.

On Thursday, she discussed that budget with Wood County Commissioners.

Jones again asked the commissioners for more money to fund staffing and equipment.

She was told that money could come, at least temporarily, from some of her office's other budget line items.

Jones said the money in her budget has *not* been spent carelessly.

"I've tried to live within what was given to the office, and I try to be reasonable with what is requested. But we just need certain things to operate the office."

Commissioners told Jones they would look for additional money for her office in January, when Wood County's annual budget reaches the six-month mark for the year.
