Work underway on Marietta River Trail Bike Path extension

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Marietta bicyclists will be taking their wheels onto a new path next summer.

City crews, along with oversight from Ohio Department of Transportation District 10, started construction last month on phase five of the River Trail Bike Path.

The new extension will link the current path on Jefferson Street near the wastewater plant, cross over Duck Creek, and connect with the Pioneer Shopping Plaza, which includes Walmart, Lowe's, etc.

City officials say the project improves the city's already robust biking network.
