VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) - Dozens of middle school students from the Mid-Ohio Valley teed off on the links in Vienna for a friendly competition.
More than 50 students played nine holes in a blind draw golf scramble at the Minibel Par 3 Golf Course.
Competitors were from Wood, Washington, Pleasants, Ritchie, and Tyler counties. During competitions, players usually compete with their own teams. But for this contest, they were placed on teams with students from other schools.
“It’s just part of our middle school golf program we do a couple of scrambles during the regular season we do a team scramble later on here at golf club of West Vriginia here in Parkersburg and then we do the county championship for six years Minibel has allowed us to do this scramble it’s the second week of the season so it’s just getting started so it’s just a fun little tournament," said Bill Vincent, the Wood County Schools Middle School Athletic Director.
This was the sixth year of the competition.
