Washington County Uses Voting Tablets

By  |

A new addition to the voting process in Washington County Tuesday, and not many knew about this.

There were voting tablets in two polling locations and Washington County was the only county in Ohio with this opportunity.

Tuesday anyone was able to try them out.

The tablets are ADA compliant.

Unlike the ADA voting machines the county uses now that were built in the early 2000's, these Windows 8 tablets are completely private, fully accessible for voters with disabilities and more affordable.

Tuesday they had a lot of positive voter feedback and around 30 people used the tablet.

This was a pilot program with the State of Ohio and they have never been used before in a live election.

Officials hope someday these tablets will be used around the country instead of paper ballots.
